Brief Summary

Dr. Jan Rasmussen has more than 30 years experience as a geologist in numerous aspects of the field. She is currently Curator of the Arizona Mining and Mineral Museum in Phoenix, Arizona.

Jan most recently worked as an environmental geochemist for SRK Consulting Scientists and Engineers in Tucson. There, she wrote technical reports for mining companies offering stock on the Toronto and London stock exchanges and for BHP Billiton to submit to Arizona Department of Environmental Quality for the closure of the San Manuel mine.

Dr. Rasmussen earned her Ph.D. in Economic Geology and Geological Engineering at the University of Arizona in 1993. She then worked for Woodward-Clyde Consultants in Las Vegas, Nevada. For most of her career, she has been a consulting geologist involved in exploration for copper, gold, oil and gas, coal and other commodities.

Jan worked many years for the Arizona Geological Survey and has written over 12 books and open file reports and numerous articles about the geology of Arizona, including "Coal, Oil and Gas, and Uranium in Arizona", "Molybdenum in Arizona", and "Fossils of Arizona". She served 10 years on the Arizona Oil and Gas Commission, by appointment of the governors in 1985 and 1990.

Throughout her career, Dr. Rasmussen has taught Physical, Historical, and Environmental Geology classes part time at the community colleges in the towns where she lived (Austin, Texas; and Sierra Vista and Tucson, Arizona). She began her career as a high school science teacher and Assistant Curator of the University of Arizona Mineral Museum.

· Wrote Canadian Natl. Inst. 43-101 reports on properties being listed on the Toronto and London stock exchages.
· Wrote reports for submittal to regulating agencies (such as Arizona Department of Environmental Quality) for large mining company clients, such as the closure of the San Manuel Mine and others.
· Prepared Environmental Impact Statements and other documents for regulatory agencies.

Consultant 1997-2003 - Jan Rasmussen Consulting, Sonoita, AZ and Austin, TX

· Evaluated situations, advised clients, wrote reports, and made recommendations resulting in improvements.
· Taught classes (Physical, Historical, and Environmental Geology), which led to changed student perceptions and improved performance.

Project Geologist 1994-1997 Woodward-Clyde Federal Services, Las Vegas, NV

· Successfully obtained funds for a $275,000.00 project within a declining overall budget by recognizing motivating factors and writing to the decision makers, resulting in timely accomplishment of the project.
· Managed project (planned scheduled, budgeted, and supervised) with five independent scientists whose research projects were behind schedule, resulting in a summary report being completed on time.
· Facilitated cooperation in a virtual corporation with a variety of stakeholders and corporate agendas, resulting in the planning, approval, and completion of nine drilling projects (four times as many as others) in one year.

Consulting Geologist 1980-1994 J. C. Wilt & Co., Tucson, Arizona

· Evaluated, advised, wrote reports, and made recommendations, which led to accurate and insightful reports and continued customer loyalty.
· Developed pragmatic mine reclamation plan by identifying key environmental issues and addressing specific concerns required by the agencies, resulting in first time approval (which is extremely rare).
· Chaired conferences, organized programs, coordinated activities, publicized events, and edited proceedings volumes, resulting in smooth running, popular programs.

Commissioner Arizona Oil and Gas Conservation Commission Phoenix, Arizona

+ Appointed by Governor Bruce Babbitt in 1985 and Rose Mofford in 1990, elected Chairman 1991-93.
+ Set oil, gas and geothermal policies, hired an expert to manage the agency, and adjudicated drilling permits and variances from requirements, resulting in smooth running of the agency.

Research Geologist University of Arizona (Ph.D.) Tucson, Arizona, 1987-1993.

· Designed cutting edge research project using neural networks (pattern recognition software) to prove a novel theory, resulting in completion twice as fast as normal.
· Efficiently communicated results and negotiated approval from professors with divergent views, resulting in approval.
